About Annamalai University (AU)
Annamalai University is a state public university in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. AU was the first private university in India. It was taken over by the Government of Tamilnadu in 2013. It was founded in the year 1929 in the aftermath of Montagu- Chelmsford Reforms. AU is affiliated with UGC and accredited with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and also ICAR.
A large number of courses are offered by different disciplines such as Arts, Engineering, Science, Management (MBA), Medical, Agriculture, Humanities, and Physical Education. Programs in the university are offered in Regular mode (On Campus) and Distance Education Mode. University offered more than 500 courses through the Directorate of Distance Education.
