GDS result for all the postal circles is primarily intimated to all the candidates only through the GDS engagement portal. After the intimation is sent to selected candidates through an Email and SMS on their registered email and Mobile no. Along with this, a physical intimation is also dispatched to candidates on selection.

GDS Result 2019

Recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevak in each postal circle is made through an online portal called GDS Online Engagement Portal. The appointment of GDS in each postal circle is made under two recruitment cycles every year. A huge number of candidates submit their applications through the online portal. The result after the scrutiny of applications is also intimated through GDS portal. After the release of GDS result, provisionally selected candidates have to go through the document verification round for final selection.  The intimation regarding selection is also sent to selected candidates through SMS, Email and post.

GDS result or simply the merit list is prepared on the basis of marks of the candidates in the qualifying exam i.e. class 10th exams. Once the application process gets completed for a postal circle, the evaluation and result processing starts and the status of the same reflected on the official GDS portal for the information of the applicants.

Afterthe completion of scrutiny of application, result is made available on the official website. The initial selection of eligible candidates is done the basis of the auto-generated merit list as per the recruitment policy of the government for the selection of GDS. No selection test or interview is conducted for the selection. The recruiting authority informs the selected candidate through a SMS, email and physical intimation. No phone calls are made to candidates regarding the declaration of result.  

Resolution of Tie  

While the generation of merit list if f two or more candidates obtain then the concerned authority applies tie-breaking criteria to determine the order of merit. The resolution of ties between the marks of the candidates is done by using the given criteria in the same order as mentioned below-

  • On the basis of candidate’s Date of Birth- Candidates older are given preference.
  • If tie still persists, Female Schedule Tribe (ST) candidate is given preference.
  • If tie still persists, Female Schedule Caste (SC) candidate is preferred.
  • If tie still persists, Female candidate from Other Backward Class-OBC category is preferred.
  • If tie still persists, female candidate of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) is ranked higher.
  • If tie is still not resolved, then the female candidate from Unreserved (UR) category is preferred.   
  • If tie still persists then Male Schedule Tribe (ST) will be given preference  
  • If tie is not resolved yet, Female Schedule Caste (SC) candidate will be preferred
  • If tie is still, there then male candidate from Other Backward Class (OBC) category will be preferred
  • If tie still persists, Economically Weaker Section (EWS)- Male will be ranked higher


  • If tie is still not resolved then lastly, male candidate from Unreserved (UR) category is given preference.    

How to Check GDS Result? 

Initially, GDS result is communicated to candidates through the GDS online portal. Candidates can download the result by visiting the GDS portal. They can follow the simple instructions shared below to smoothly download the result-

  • Step 1- Open official Website    

Candidates have to start by visiting the official GDS online engagement portal. The link for GDS engagement portal is http://www.appost.in/gdsonline/Home.aspx.  

  • Step 2- Search for “Results” menu

On opening the official portal homepage will open. On this page, candidates have to click on “Results” tab given on the top right. Or they can simply check the “Result Released” section on the left side of the portal.  

  • Step 3- Select the relevant link

A drop-down list of all the released results will appear once candidate will hit the Results tab. They can click on the respective state to check the result. They can also get their result by clicking the respective result by hitting the result options given under “Result Released” section on the homepage of the portal.

  • Step 4- Result gets downloaded

On clicking the relevant result link, the desired result pdf for the selected postal result will get automatically downloaded on the device.

  • Step 5- Check the result details

Candidates have to open the downloaded result pdf file. Now, they can check their names in the selection list. After checking the result if they wish they can take printout of the result sheet already downloaded.

GDS Result – Cut Off Marks

The cut-off marks criteria are fixed separately for each postal circle by the recruiting authority. Candidates should note that no weightage or extra marks will be given for higher qualification. The cut-off marks will be fixed category-wise considering following factors- total number of seats, total application received, marking criteria, reservation rule etc.

Document Verification and Final Result

On the basis of auto-generated result or merit list, provisionally selected candidates will be invited for the next round. The selection of candidates at this stage shall be provisional and for final selection they have to undergo the process of document verification. Only after the DV and acceptance by the district recruiting authorities final merit list will be prepared and appointment will be made.

Document verification and appointment procedure will be conducted by the recruiting authorities at the district level. The schedule, venue can complete details about the DV round will be intimated to candidates in due course by the concerned authority. All the candidates have to carry required documents and certificates to the designated venue on the day of DV.  The list of all the important documents to be produced at the document verification section is as follows-

  • SSC / Class X Marks Memo
  • SSC/ Class X pass certificate


  • Date of Birth proof certificate (if date of birth is not printed on the SSC certificate)
  • Computer Certificate
  • Caste/ Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Certificate of disability (if applicable)
  • Passport sized photographs of the candidates
  • Other documents as specified to the candidates

GDS Recruitment – Salary/ TRCA     

Finally, appointed candidates are provided-

  • Minimum TRCA for Four Hours/Level 1 in TRCA Slab- Rs.10000/
  • Minimum TRCA for Five hours/Level 2 in TRCA slab- Rs.12000/-
