HSEE Result 2020: Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, conducts the HSEE entrance exam every year. This exam is held for admission in the integrated MA program in development studies and English studies stream. Only 52 seats are available for this 5 year course that has to be filled after the HSEE Result 2020 releases. The university invites the applications from the interested candidates through online mode and releases the result of the exam on their website only.

HSEE Result 2020

It is expected that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will declare the HSEE result online on May 15, 2020. As mentioned above that the result will be released on the official website of IIT Madras. All the candidates who will take this exam can check their result their email id/ login id and password.

HSSC Entrance Exam Result 2020



To get admission in  5 years program of Humanities and Social Sciences all the interested candidates will have to clear the HSEE exam 2020. As the entrance exam is conducted for 57 seats only so the competition is high in this entrance exam. For the candidates from a general category, the minimum required marks to get a place in the HSEE rank list is 50% and for the candidates from other reserved categories like OBC-NCL the required marks are 45% and for SC/ST the required percentage is 25%.

Steps to check HSEE 2020 Result

As the table given above that the result of HSSC 2020 will be released on May 15, 2020, so you must want to know how can you check the result. The result of this entrance test will be released online on the official website of HSEE 2020. To check the result of  this entrance exam you will have to follow the below given steps;

Step 1: First of all you will have to visit the official website of HSEE and Click on the Result section given on the home page; https://hsee.iitm.ac.in/

Step 2: Once you will click on the Result section, a new window is opened where you have to enter your Login credentials 

Step 3: Now to get your Result, you will have to enter your Register Email -ID/Login ID and Password on the page.

Step 4:  After entering all the required details your Result is displayed on the page. 

Step 5: Check it and download it for future use and reference.

  • Name and Roll Number of the Candidate

HSEE 2020 Merit List



HSEE authorities will release a merit list with the release of the result of this entrance exam. The authorities will release a merit list as per the category of the candidates along with a common rank list. The name of only those candidates will appear in the merit list that has scored the minimum cut off marks in this exam. Based on the marks and candidates’ rank in the merit list, they will get admission to this exam.

HSEE 2020 Cut Off

  • The standard HSEE cut off marks are different for the students of different categories. Have a look at the below mentioned cut off marks for HSEE 2020;
  • Candidates from the general category will have to score at least 50% in the entrance exam to qualify it.
  • For the applicants belonging to the OBC-NCL category the minimum required marks are at least 45% to be in the OBC-NCL rank list. 
  • Candidates belonging to SC and ST categories need to score at least 25% marks in the entrance exam to be in their respective rank lists.

HSEE 2020 Tie Resolving Criteria 

Now have a look at the tie-breaking rules of the HSEE exam. When a candidate will score better marks then he will get higher rank as. But if in case two or more candidates will score the same marks in this entrance exam then their rank will be decided based on the below-mentioned criteria;

  • If two candidates score the same marks in total then the candidate who scores more marks in Part II (Essay) will be given a higher rank.
  • If in aggregate marks two or candidates score the same marks and tie also occur in part II (Essay) then the candidate who will score more marks in General Studies will get the higher rank.


  • If two candidates score the same marks in Essay writing, and General studies marks, then the one who scores more marks in the “Analytical Abilities” section of Part I will be placed on high rank in the merit list. 
  • If candidates have the same marks in all the above-mentioned sections then the elder one by age will get a higher rank in the merit list of HSEE 2020.

Re-Grading and Re-Totaling In HSEE 2020

Part I of the HSEE exam is conducted online and Part II is also arranged by the exam conducting authority vet confidentially. All the possible care is maintained by the examiner and well-qualified teacher while checking the answer sheets. So there is no provision of re-totaling or re-grading in this entrance exam. Once the result will be declared that will be the final result. Applicants cannot demand the re-checking of the answer sheets.

HSEE 2020 Seat Reservation 

The IIT-M follows the reservation rules to offer admission to the deserving students from the reserved category as well. The table given below has the information about the reservation to the candidates from different categories;

The seats will be reserved for the candidates from different categories as per the above-given table. The rest of the seats will be available for the candidates from the general and non-reserved category. The seat allotments to all the candidates will be done based on their rank in the rank list.

For reserved category also the candidates will get admission based on their categories’ cut off marks and rank in the merit list. If any candidate refuses to take admission then his seat will be allotted to other candidates who have his name next to the first person.   Vacant seats for -NCL candidates will be de-reserved and open for allotment to general candidates.

What after the HSEE 2020 Result?



As a result of HSEE, 2020 will be released online on 15 May 2020 so, all the candidates will have to wait till then. After a day of declaring the result, the officials will release an offer letter to the qualified students on 16 May 2020. Selected candidates will be able to download their offer letters from the website. After getting the offer letter the qualified and selected candidates will report to IIT Madras for the counselling process. It is suggested to the candidates to carry all the documents for counseling purposes.

If you forget the login id and password then you will have to click on the ‘Forgot Password’ option given on the login page. A link will be sent you your registered mail id and from there you can reset your password. 

HSEE 2020 result will be released online. Students will not get any intimation about the result releasing date as the authorities have already announced the result releasing date.

The merit list will be prepared based on the marks scored by the candidates. Authorities will also release the category-wise merit list for the applicants.
