Why selection in JNVST is so tough?

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (JNVS) is so popular among the parents and students of India that’s why every year lakhs of candidates registered themself for the entrance test

In 2018-2019 session 2777504 students have been registered themselves for the examination

Out of which, 1994662 candidates have appeared in the examination And after having a huge number of appearances in the examination only 46,400 candidates have been selected for admission in class VI.

And the number of JNVST at that time is 630 only, So now you can imagine from this that how tough for the students to qualify JNVST Examination. Only those will be shortlisted who perform exceptionally well on the given day.

As the samiti has decided that a maximum of 80 students will grant admission in class VI of each Vidyalaya across India who qualifies the selection test but…

What after if I got selected in phase-I of JNVST 2020?

When the samiti unfold the result of the candidates of Phase-I then…

After that, they will give you a time and date on which you have to submit all the relevant documents as mentioned in the notification or requirement for the admission and must remember all documents should be original.



If you belong to the reservation category and got selected in the examination then you must produce your certificate of reservation at the time of admission and the reservation certificate must be obtained before the 30th of March for the year of seeking admission (means you must get your certificate on or before of 30th March 2020)

If you are from Divyang Category and if selected in the examination then you must produce a medical certificate which should be signed by the medical officer of the district concerned.

Candidates who belong to the transgender category must submit a certificate from the competent authority in regards to the gender category. However, there is no provision of reservation for the transgender category

Until you have got confirmation of admission from the samiti till then do not think that you have secured your admission when you got the confirmation from the samiti then only you may apply for transfer certificate (TC) from the school you have studied last. On Mere selected in the test doesn’t give any right to any candidates to secure admission in the school.

Samiti will not disclose the marks of the candidates whether he/ she is been selected or not. As the result of JNVST gone through the extreme test condition so…

Samiti has not given any provision to anyone for re-valuation or re-totaling of marks

If you are selected for admission then you will be admitted to the JNV located to your district where you have studied class V and appearing for JNVST. No such request for school change will be entertained by the samiti in any circumstances. And in case of any dispute, the decision of the samiti will be final

JNVST Cut off marks 2020

Cut-off marks play an important role in every entrance exam as it helps in preparing the result and selection list of the candidates. Cut-off marks are the minimum qualifying marks and depends on various factors like no of candidates, no of seats, level of difficulty of questions paper, etc.  As various factors are responsible for deciding a cut-off marks, every year the it changes for JNVST exam.

NVS decides cut-off marks by analysing all these factors every year. However, Samiti has not revealed JNVST 2020 cut-off marks for any class. JNVST Result Reservation 2020

Selection list of the candidates will be prepared on the basis of merit of candidates in the selection test, number of seats, and reservation criteria. Category-wise reservation criterion is one of the important factor behind the preparation of JNVST result.

Candidates can check the reservation rules shared below for each category of the candidates-

  • The 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by the candidates who were selected under the rural quota and
  • The remaining seats will be filled by the urban areas students
  • One-third of the total seats will be filled by the girls
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • Reservation for Divyang students as per the norms of Gov. of India

JNVST Post Result Activity

After the announcement of the result, candidates have to report to the Navodaya Vidhyalaya they have applied for. The selection list will also be displayed on the notice boards of all the Jawahar Navodaya Vidhayalas. Candidates might be intimated about the admission through respective schools via post or phone calls.



Selected candidates have to report to the respective schools with their parents/guardians within the stipulated time. They are required to carry all the educational certificates, personal certificates such as date of birth, caste, and category certificate (if applicable) and other documents with them to the school on the day of admission. The information regarding the requirement of documents and certificates will be communicated to the students by the concerned school. After completing all the admission formalities seats will be allotted to the candidates.

After the completion of admission, if any seat remains vacant then the candidates in the waitlist will be invited to fill the vacant seats.
