- Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB)
LLB is the most popular and known law course in India. LLB is a graduate level course. LLB is also offered as Bachelor of Law (BL) in some law colleges of India.
Duration- The total duration of this course is 3 years. These three years are divided into 6 semesters.
Eligibility- A graduate from any field is eligible for LLB Program.
Admission to LLB program is usually done on the basis of entrance exams and a personal interview.

Master of Legislative Law or LLM is an advanced course in Law after LLB. It is a post graduate degree course in Law.
Duration- LLM is a two years Postgraduate course. The maximum duration to complete this course may vary from university to university.
Eligibility– Candidate must have an LLB/Integrated LLB Degree or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized college. As far as age is concerned, there is no age limit criteria for this course.
Admissions are allotted to the candidates on the basis of entrance exam.

- Master of Business Law (MBL)
Master of Business Law (MBL) is a post-graduate degree program. MBL is a career-oriented law program that are basically aimed to familiarize law students about the various aspects of civil law. MBL offers knowledge about legal matters of the business, commercial elements of law and business skills.
Some of the subjects that are covered in two years under this course include Accounting and Law, Litigation Strategy, Taxation, Legal Risk Management, Commercial to Legal systems and legal concepts, Competitive Law, Employment Labor Laws, Corporate Governance etc.
Duration- The duration of the MBL course is 2 years.
Eligibility- A candidate having a graduate degree with at least 50% is eligible for this course.
MBL degree holders can start their careers as a Legal Advisor, Law officer, Pay Roll manager, Legal assistant, Chief Financial Officer etc at government and private firms like Banks, Industrial houses, railways, financial firms, law firms, government department etc.
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Law
P.hD in Law is a doctoral degree course in law. Students after completing their masters in law can pursue this P.hD in Law.
Duration- 2 years (semester system)
Eligibility- Candidates must have a master degree in law or in social science.
Admission into this course is done on the basis of entrance exams like NEF, CLAT, ACLAT etc.
Integrated Law courses-
Earlier law aspirants were able to pursue law courses only after the completion of graduation. But thanks to the new policy, law aspirants can opt integrated law courses like BA-LLB, BBA-LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc LLB, B.Tech LLB just after completing their 12th. Students from all the streams are eligible for these integrated courses.
Duration- The total duration of these integrated courses is 5 years.
Eligibility- Candidates who have completed their 10+2 from a recognized board are eligible for this course. As there is no restriction of subjects, students with any subject background can opt for these courses.
Law Entrance Examinations
Below we have shared information about the top law entrance examinations conducted at various levels-
Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized law entrance exam conducted for admission into the 19 national law universities of India. It is conducted by the laws universities on a rotational basis. 43 other law schools are eligible to use the CLAT score except for National Law University, Delhi and some other universities that conduct a separate entrance test.
All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a law entrance test conducted by National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) for admission in UG, PG and doctoral courses in the University.
Law School Admission Test (LSAT)- India is conducted by Pearson VUE and designed by Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for admission into various law programs in more than colleges in India.
All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to determine the capability of an advocate to practice law in India and to provide Certificate of Practice.
Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test (ILICAT) is again a university level law entrance exam conducted by Indian Law Institute for admission in LLM course.
Delhi University LLB
DU LLB is a national level law entrance exam conducted by the University of Delhi for admission into LLB program offered at the three law centers of the University.
Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test Law is conducted by the University for Entry into undergraduate programs in its affiliated colleges.
AMU Law Entrance Exam
Aligarh Muslim University conducts AMU law entrance exam every year for admission into UG courses in the AMU and its campuses.
Symbiosis Law Entrance Test (SET Law) is a university level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for admission in B.A LLB and BBA LLB programs.
MH CET LAW
Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law is a state level law entrance test conducted by Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Maharashtra for admission into UG and PG programs in various law colleges of the state.
