On the basis of NEET (UG) 2020, successful candidates will get admission to MBBS/BDS (UG programs) in various government and private medical/dental colleges across India. Now, NEET is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) an autonomous authority under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI. Previously, it was conducted by CBSE.

Once NEET UG result will be out, NTA will release the merit list and on the basis of merit, concerned authorities will invite applications for online counseling.

NEET UG Result 2020



Following the previous year’s trend, NEET Result 2020 will also be hosted online. On 4th June2020, NTA will publish the result on its official website and will also upload the same on digilocker. NTA will not send any physical copy of results through the post to any candidate.

Candidates can download their results by using valid login details. Candidates should note that no category-wise result will be hosted. They should keep the printed copy of the downloaded result safe for use in further admission process.

NEET result can be utilized by other organizations or entities under Central/ State Government in accordance with their rules and policies for the purpose of admission.

How to access NEET Result 2020?

There are two ways to access NEET UG 2020 result. These include-

  • Official NEET website – As it has been clear that result will be announced only through online and participants have to access it through the same mode. To help the candidates in downloading their result without any difficulty we have shared the step-by-step guide here in this segment. They just have to follow the instructions mentioned below to download their result.
  • Open the official website

Candidates have to start by opening the official website of NTA NEET i.e. https://ntaneet.nic.in. If they wish they can also visit the direct link shared on this page.

  • Enter Login details

Result search page will appear and candidates have to enter the login details like registration no./ application number, password/Date of birth etc. Click on “Search” button. They should enter valid login credentials. The result search page may appear as shown in the picture.

  • NEET 2020 result will display



Finally, desired result sheet will appear on the screens. The sample of NEET scorecard/ result is shared below. However, actual NEET 2020 result sheet may appear different from the one shared here as non-NEET is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).

Now, candidates can check their marks, rank, percentile and all the other result details mentioned on the result sheet.

Lastly, they have to download the result and take printout of it. For printing the result sheet, they can click on “Print” option given on the same page. Candidates are advised to keep this printed copy of NEET scorecard safely as it may be required at the time of counseling or admission to the college.

2. Digilocker

Apart from the official portal, NEET result can also be accessed through Digilocker portal. NTA will also upload NEET Result, Rank Letter/ Marks cum Rank Sheet on digilocker portal. Candidates have to visit digilocker portal (www.digilocker.gov.in) and have to access the desired result from there by logging in.

What if candidate forget the registration No.?

In order to access NEET 2020 result online, it is important for candidates to have their registration number with them at the time of downloading the result. Without a valid registration or application, they cannot access their result.

Therefore, candidates are always advised to refer the printed copy of NEET application form and admit card as the application number is mentioned on both the documents. Sometimes it happens that candidates forget their registration number and also miss the application form/ admit card.

In this situation, they can find their registration number by clicking on the relevant option provided on the official NEET portal to access the result. They have to follow the simple procedure given below to get their NEET application no.-

  • Visit NEET UG 2020 portal first.


  • Now, on the homepage of the portal candidates have to hit the “Forget Registration Number” link as shown in the picture below.
  • A new page will appear. Candidates have to enter the information in the space provided as they have filled in the application form at the time of applicationprocess.
  • After entering the required information, they have to enter the security pin and hit the “Submit” option.
  • After that, they have to follow the given instructions like OTP validation, etc.
  • Lastly, candidates will find their application number.

Similarly, if they forget their password, they have to click on “Forget Password” option and have to follow the further instructions to set a new password.

Information mentioned on NEET UG 2020 scorecard

NEET UG result is released as a scorecard on the official website. No printed result is issued and sent to any candidate. The NEET 2020 result will indicate various information regarding candidate’s performance in the result such as their mark, percentage, rank, sectional score, etc. Along with this, it will also include information related to the examinee and the entrance test.

NEET 2020- Percentile and Percentile Rank

NEET merit ranking is determined by evaluating and analyzing the percentile score. Candidates often get confused between percentage and percentile. Although, they are related but different concepts.  

Percentage is simply a number expressed as a fraction of 100. Whereas percentile provides candidates an insight who well he/she had performed in an exam as compared to others.

For example- If the score of A is in 90th



percentile it simply means that A has scored better than the 90% of candidates who have taken the test.

Percentile is generally calculated on the basis of marks and on the basis of rank.  The formulas for calculating percentile through both the method is as follows-

  • Calculation of percentile on the basis of Marks-

Individual Score X 100 / Marks obtained by top scorer

  • Calculation of percentile on the basis of Rank-

Total appearing candidates – Rank secured / Total appearing candidate X 100

NEET UG 2020 candidates have to secure a minimum marks/ percentile cut-off fixed by the conducted authority for each category of the candidates.

The category-wise percentage cut-off for NEET 2020 is as follows-

To qualify the NEET, candidates must secure minimum percentile in their respective category.

In case of NEET 2020, percentile will be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the test.

Percentile Rank- The percentage of score falling below a given score in a group is known as percentile rank. Percentile rank of the candidates can be calculated by the given formula-

Percentile Rank = (100 X No. of candidates appeared with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate) / Total No. of the candidates appeared

NEET 2020- Revaluation/ Rechecking of result

NEET 2020 result declared by NTA will be final. NEET answer scripts are basically machine gradable answer sheets and they undergo a crucial evaluation process. Before the preparation of the final result, these answer scripts of each and every candidate is evaluated with the utmost care and is scrutinized repeatedly. Hence, NTA does not provide an opportunity to submit objections against the result.

The two main reasons of not having re-evaluation policy in NEET exam are-

  • The answer scripts used in NEET exam are machine gradable and thus are evaluated through specific software. The use of software for evaluation reduces the chances of errors and biasness which checking the answer sheets.


  • The second biggest reason is that candidates are given an opportunity to challenge the answer key in case of any doubt and also submit representation OMR gradation of their OMR sheets.

This is the reason that no request made by candidates regarding re-checking, scrutiny, re-totaling or revaluation of answer script is entertained under any circumstances after the release of result.

NEET 2020 Result- Inter-se-Merit/ Resolution of Tie

Lakhs of students appeared for this exam each year and such situation is a common phenomenon that two more candidates secure equal number of marks in the entrance test. To resolve the tie and determine the rank of the candidates, a tiebreaker criterion is applied. The tie-breaking criteria that are used to determine the merit of the candidates are shared as under-

  • Marks in Biology- Candidates securing higher marks in Biology section (Botany and Zoology) in the test will be preferred.
  • Marks in Chemistry- If tie still persists then candidates with higher marks in Chemistry will be given preference.
  • Incorrect Answers- If tie is still not resolved then the candidate with less number of attempted incorrect answers in all the three subjects in exam will be ranked high.
  • On the basis of age- If tie still persists then the candidate older in age will be given preference.

NEET 2020- Validity of Score

NEET score is utilized by various government and private medical and dental colleges/universities for granting admission to the candidates. To secure admission in a particular college, candidates should hold a valid NEET scorecard.



The NEET score is only valid for one academic session. NEET (UG) 2020 score will be valid only for the academic session 2020-21. Candidates having a valid score card can apply for admission to a medical/ dental college only for the current academic session. After the completion of 2020-21 academic session, this score will not be valid and will not be considered for further admission in upcoming year.    

However, NEET score of candidates who want to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical/dental programs from a Foreign institute is valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result. This information was communicated through an official notification last year by the Board of Governors, Medical Council of India (MCI).

A large number of candidates take NEET UG exam every year with the aim of pursuing their higher education (UG) in medical from abroad. Now, they must be happy as their score will be valid for three years.

NTA NEET Weeding Out Rule

The information of NEET 2020 examination such answer scripts/ response sheets, applications, result, scorecard, rank card, etc. will be preserved only for a specific period of time. Within this period candidate are free to make subject representation and request for examination data and material.  

NEET 2020 examination and result record will be presented up to a period of 60 days from the date of declaration of result. After 60 days no representation regarding the same will be entertained.

NEET Result and Reservation 2020

Reservation is an important factor as it is considered at various phases of NEET exam and final admission. Out of 100% seats in NEET, 15% Seats will be reserved for All Indian Quota Students. Candidates under this 15% AIQ will be allotted seats in Central Institutions Including AFMC, ESI, BHU, Delhi University (DU), AMU and Deemed Universities. 

The category-wise seat reservation under All India Quota (15%) is given below-

Remaining 85% seat will be reserved for states. For these seats, reservation will be provided as per the policies of the State Government.

Post NEET Result Activities



Mere declaration of result will not entitle candidates to claim for admission to medical colleges. There are various activities and procedures which are conducted after the announcement of result for final seat allotment. The two main post NEET result activities include-

  • Display of NEET UG Merit and Conduct of Counseling

The brief information about both the processes is as under-

NEET Merit/Rank List 2020

After the announcement of result, NTA will also publish the merit list. Merit list will be prepared as per the directives prescribed by the DGHS, MCI, and DCI by NTA.  This merit will be taken as a base for counseling. It is will be prepared on the basis of result and scores of the candidates in NEET exam. Separate merit lists will be prepared for 15% All India Quota seats and 85% state quota seats.  Merit list will indicate the names of the successful candidates in order of merit.

  • Merit list for 15% All India Quota

NTA will forward the AIQ merit list to the Directorate General of Health Services (Medical Examination Cell), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for further admission procedure.

  • Merit list for 85% seats other than 15% quota

Here, NTA will forward the merit list to the state authorities for further proceedings.

Apart from candidates of Indian nationality, international candidates under Foreign category, NRI, OCI, and PIO category also appear for NEET exam. The result and pass percentage information of all these candidates for the year 2019 is given in the table below-

Talking about the state-wise result and performance of the candidates in previous year NEET exam, states like Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh were top performing states and UT. The pass percentage in each of the state was- Delhi (74.92%), Chandigarh (73.24%), Haryana (73.41%), Andhra Pradesh (70.72%).

There were also states and Union Territories, where NEET result for the year 2019 was not up to the marks. The pass percentage of students was low as per the number of test takers. These states and UTs include Nagaland where pass percentage was just 34.52, Maharashtra (39.26%), Mizoram (35.79%), Meghalaya (36.27%) etc.

NEET (UG) 2020

NEET 2020 was conducted on 3rd May 2020 on a single day and in a single shift across various examinations centers of India and Abroad except for Odisha.

A large number of candidates participated in this test with the hope of qualifying it. NEET was held in offline mode and the duration of exam was three hours. NEET 2020 was conducted in 11 different languages (Assamese, Hindi, English, Gujarati, Tamil, Urdu, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu) as per the preference of the candidates. There were total 180 questions in the exam of objective type. The paper was divided into three sections viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

Result will be prepared as per the marking scheme. For each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded and for every wrong choice, 1 marks will be deducted from total score.
