SSC CGL Result 2020 Tier 1 Result, Merit list (soon) Cut off Date soon


SSC CGL Result 2020 CBT 1 | Merit list @ ssc.nic.in: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level Tier 1 CBT exam was conducted in the month of March 2020 in 131 exam centers. More than 10 lakhs applicants appeared in the exam and now all these candidates are curiously waiting for the release of SSC CGL result 2020 to move to next round. We are happy to tell them that the SSC CGL result tier 1 might be released in the month of April 2020.

SSC CGL Result will be hosted only on the official website of the commission and here for intimation of all the participants who took the exam. No hard copy of SSC CGL stage 1 result will be made available and no separate intimation will be sent to any candidate about the result. Candidates have to get only through the online mode. As per information provided by the Commission, CGL 2020 Tier I result will publish in the month of April/May 2020. SSC CGL result for CBT I 2020 will be announced in the form of SSC CGL merit list. It will be made available on commission’s official website. No other mode will be made available for candidates. Those who are waiting for the announcement of SSC CGL Merit list/result should note that the commission will not send any hard copy of result or marks card to their postal addresses.

SSC CGL Merit list 2020

SSC CGL Merit list Pdf is expected to be published SCC region wise. SSC CGL Merit PDF will only indicate the name and registration no. of the candidates who will qualify the Tier I exam and will be shortlisted for further selection rounds. SSC CGL Merit list will not be indicating marks obtained by the candidates Marks of the candidates in online exam will be uploaded separately after the publication of merit list.

Along the publication of result or merit list and marks of each Tier, SSC will also publish a write-up regarding the same. Write Up pdf file will include information about category-wise cut-off marks, number of candidates available in each category, candidates qualified in each Tier, number of candidates appeared in each round, roll numbers of candidates whose result will not be published, information related to uploading of marks of the candidates and other important information.

The SSC CGL result and marks uploaded by the commission will be final and therefore candidates advised not to file an objection. No correspondence and inquiry regarding the same will be entertained.  

SSC CGL Resolution of Tie

In the event of tie between the marks of the candidates in various Tiers viz. Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, and Tier IV, selecting committee will use a tie-breaking criteria to determine the merit of the candidates.

Rules followed by the commission for resolution of tie is as under-

  • Total marks obtained by the candidate in Tier-II Examination
  • Tie still persists- Total marks obtained in Tier-III Examination.
  • Further- Total marks obtained in Tier-I Examination.
  • If tie still persists- Date of birth: candidates older in age will be given preference.


  • If tie still persists, alphabetical order in which the first name of the candidates appear.

Preparation of SSC CGL Merit List

SSC CGL exam is conducted in multiple shifts like other exam conducted by the commission. The conduct of exam in multiple shifts leads to variations in the difficulty level of question paper. Due to which some candidates are benefitted and some are disadvantaged.

 In order to avoid such issues, commission decided to prepare the result of the all the exams conducted in various shifts by the mean of normalization of score. As SSC CGL Tier I exam was also held in different shifts, commission will prepare the result using the normalization of marks method.

How to check the SSC CGL Result 2020?

SSC result for CGL CBT- I 2020 will be posted on official website. In this section, we have brought the step-by-step by following which candidates who are looking result can get their result easily-

  • Step I- go to the official website

Candidates need to visit the official portal of SSC i.e. www.ssc.nic.in.   

  • Step II- Check information on homepage

Candidates have to search for the relevant result link given under “Latest News” section. OR you may also click the “Result” tab on the home page.

Step III- Merit list link appears

On clicking the result link, a page will appear carrying the region-wise result/merit list link. Candidates have to click the link of the concerned SSC region.

  • Step IV-  Result Displays

Merit list will appear on the screens. Candidates can check their names or roll number in the list.

  • Step V- Save the merit list

Lastly, candidates can click on download option and save the result for references in future.

SSC CGL 2020 Result- Marks card

As it has been clear now that marks secured by the candidates in each Tier exam will not be mentioned in the merit list, commission will provide it separately. Marks of the candidates will be uploaded online after the publication of merit list.

Candidates have to download the marks details from the official website on the notified dates by following the given steps-

  • Candidates have to go to the commission website first.
  • On the front page, they have to search for login section on the right side of the page.
  • They have to login by using valid registration no. and password.
  • Candidate’s account will open and they have to click on marks option.
  • SCC CGL 2020 marks for respective Tier will appear.
  • They can check the mark card.
  • Lastly, they can download and keep the marks safe with them for references in future.

SSC CGL Tier-I CBT Cut-Off marks

In order to qualify the exam, candidates are required to obtain marks equal or more than the cut-off marks. SSC CGL Cut-marks for each category will vary and thus candidates have to secure marks as per the minimum qualifying marks fixed for their category.



After the publication of result, Commission will also upload the cut-off marks information for each category.

SSC CGL Post Result Activities

After the release of Tier-I result, shortlisted candidates will be eligible to appear in Tier-II exam. It will also be a computer based test which is scheduled to be conducted on 22nd June to 25th June 2020

Those will qualify Tier II will be shortlisted for Tier III. Tier III will be a descriptive test. Candidates qualifying this test will be shortlisted for Date Entry Skill Test (DEST)/ Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). A final merit list will be prepared on the basis of all the four tiers. These candidates will then be called for document verification and other selection formalities. Appointment letter will be issued only to those candidates who will satisfy all the eligibility conditions as per the selection policy of the commission.

Important points related to SSC CGL result  

  • SSC CGL Merit list/ result is likely to release on April/May 2020
  • Merit list and marks of SSC candidates will be published separately on different dates.
  • Candidates are required to keep their registration no. ready with them before checking the result or marks.
  • After the publication of merit list, commission will also upload marks of the candidates on its portal.
  • Candidates can access their marks by using valid login details.
  • Commission decision on result and merit list of each tier will be final.
  • There is no provision of revaluation of result and hence no correspondence regarding the same will be entertained.


  • On the day of release of result, official SSC website may get slow or may go down due to heavy traffic. All the candidates are therefore advised to have patience.
