UPSC NDA 1 Online Application 2020: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for UPSC NDA 1 2020. Interested candidates can apply online for NDA 2020 from 8 January 2020 to 28 January 2020. This year’s commission has released the UPSC NDA 1 notification for a total of 418 vacancies. From a total of 418 vacancies, 370 vacant posts are for National Defence Academy and rest 48 are for Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme).

UPSC NDA 1 Online Application Important Dates

UPSC has released the notification about NDA 1 schedule for 2020 on 6th



January 2020. The application submission process has been started from 8 January 2020. All the aspirants who want to serve the nation by joining the National Defense Academy should apply online after checking their eligibility for NDA. Eligibility To Apply For UPSC NDA 2020

It is a must for the aspirants to check their eligibility to apply for NDA 1. If any candidate could not fulfill the eligibility criteria set by UPSC to apply for NDA then his application form will get rejected. Read on to know about the required qualification and age limit to apply for NDA 1 2020;

  • The candidate must be an unmarried male and he must be an Indian citizen. A subject of Bhutan, or Nepal, or  Tibetan refugee  (who came over to  India before the  1st January 1962)  or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the  United  Republic of  Tanzania,  Zambia,  Malawi,  Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam can also apply for NDA.  
  • The Age of the candidate will be counted as per their date of birth. The applicant must be born before 2nd July 2001 and not later than 1st July 2004.
  • To apply for National Defence Academy the required qualification is 12th Pass out. By a State Education Board or a University. Candidates who are perusing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern can also apply for this examination.
  • To apply for Air Force or Naval wings and for 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at the Indian Naval Academy the candidatesmust have passed 12th class with Physics and Mathematics as subjects or cleared the equivalent examination of the State Board to be eligible for NDA 2020.
  • It is a must for the candidate to be physically fit to clear the NDA competitive exam.

All those candidates who are appearing in class 12th under 10+2 pattern or under any state or government recognized board will have to present their original educational documents of completing the 12th after clearing SSB interview.    

How To Fill And Submit UPSC NDA 1 2020 Application Form

As we have mentioned above that the application form NDA 1 has been released and interested candidates can apply online to participate in the NDA exam.  To fill and submit the NDA 1 application form 2020 the applicant will have to follow the below-given instructions;

UPSC NDA Application Fee

  • Candidates from UR and OBC category are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Credit/Debit Card. To pay the fee in cash you should print the system generated Pay-in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working.  
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee.
  • The sons of serving/ex-Junior   Commissioned Officers/Non-Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks of Army and equivalent ranks in the Indian Navy/Indian Air Force are also not required to pay the prescribed fee.  

NDA Admit Card 2020

UPSC will release the admit card for the applicant of the NDA exam so that they can participate in the written exam and other stages of selections. The admit card will be released online on the official UPSC website. We have already mentioned the tentative dates for releasing the admit card for NDA 1 2020. Here are the steps that you will have to take to download your NDA 1 2020 Admit card;

  • Visit upsc.gov.in to download NDA Hall Ticket 2020.


  • You will have to fill the details like RID, Date of Birth or Roll Number to download your admit card.
  • The admit card will be having exam related details like student name, roll number, exam center, exam date & timing, etc.
  • It is an essential document and without hall ticket, candidates will not be permitted to appear in the examination.

NDA Selection Process 2020

After releasing the admit card for NDA 2020 the selection process will get a start. Here have a look at the different stages of NDA selection process 2020;

Written Exam

  • The written exam for NDA will comprise two subjects – Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT)
  • In the test paper, objective type questions will be asked. The language of the question paper will be Hindi and English.
  • Total marks of the written exam are 900 and the duration of exam will be 2 ½ hours.
  • To clear the written exam of NDA the candidates need to secure 25% marks in each subject.

SSB Interview

After the written exam, the selected candidates will participate in the SSB Interview. The interview will be having a two-stage selection process – Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test.

After qualifying the first stage the candidates will get shortlisted for the second round of SSB.

After this, the candidates will have to show their original documents to support their date of birth and educational qualification.

Final Merit List

To get accepted by Army/ Naval Academy and Air Force under NDA recruitment, it’s a must for the candidates to score the cut off marks than clear the SSB Interview. After that based on the medical fitness test, a UPSC NDA Result and merit list will be prepared by the NDA officials and applicants will get admission to NDA.
